‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: Jessica Capshaw on aftermath for Callie, Arizona

“Grey’s Anatomy” season 11 has brought us many a devastating scene already, but we know that one in particular still is producing strong reactions: What happened with Callie and Arizona. It felt for a while like the two parties were going to figure out a way to make things work, but unfortunately, it just was not to be.

We suppose that it is very well possible that the two characters find a way to make things better for themselves, and gravitate back towards one another, at some point before the series comes to an end. However, that’s not going to be anytime in the near future. Instead, the plan more is to keep the characters apart so that they can be discovered as individual characters, and not doing something that will torture fans and ‘shippers more. This is something that Jessica Capshaw herself points out in a chat with TVLine:

“The best thing the writers could have done, which is what they did for at least these next six episodes, is have [Arizona and Callie] just be on their own … They haven’t had to butt up against each other or be sad. They both dove into their own lives and have lived there.”

It also seems like a romance between Arizona and someone else is not in the cards … at least for the time being. Therefore, we’ll give the writers credit here, since it feels like they are both saying and doing all of the right things at the moment to move the story along, but not anger old fans at the same time.
