‘Glee’ season 6: Naya Rivera jokes about ‘shower’ controversy
Who knew that there would be so many stories that were made out of Naya Rivera and her showering habits? It is definitely a little bit bizarre, but it is exactly what has happened following some comments that the “Glee” star made on “The View.”
For those who missed the initial comments (see the video below), what Naya basically said during her appearance on the ABC daytime series is that in her experience, white people tend to shower far more frequently than those of other races. She then referenced her husband, who is white and claims takes a shower multiple times a day. She, meanwhile, feels like she is much more within what is actually recommended by experts as to how many times you should be showering.
Basically, the reaction to this has been negative, with many claiming that the actress is stereotyping some based on race, and there were even some surprised faces in the “View” audience at the time in which the subject came up. So what is her response to some of that? Based on her post on Twitter, that the majority of viewers are being overly sensitive and humorless. This is a common response to many things in what we feel so far is the Decade of Outrage, where every comment tends to lead to a number of people being upset.
In the end, Rivera’s not exactly apologizing for what she said, but this entire story is going to probably blow over in a couple of days anyway. Interestingly enough, that is when the next episode of “Glee” is going to air.
