Fox orders ‘Minority Report’ pilot; ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ coming to Netflix
Ready for a look into the future? Well, there are a pair of shows coming up that you really should be excited about.
“Minority Report” – We knew that a TV version of the Tom Cruise film was coming, and Fox has officially decided to order a pilot for it now. Kevin Falls is going to be the primary showrunner, and we can only hope that this will do better numbers than the last futuristic drama the network had in “Almost Human,” which was canceled after only one season on the air.
Fox right now is really gambling on properties, which does not shock us too much given how badly they really want to ensure that they can revive themselves from their ratings slumber this year. “Gotham” is the only legitimate scripted hit they have; while “Empire” debuted to huge numbers, we cannot judge a show on one episode.
“Wet Hot American Summer” – Now for the surprise of the month so far. Netflix has officially brought on board an eight-episode limited series based off of the cult favorite, and most of the movie’s original cast is going to be back. The entire roster includes Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe LoTruglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter and Kevin Sussman. There are some pretty big names in that list, and it’s crazy to think that all of these different schedules lined up.
Then again, we anticipate this being almost like “Arrested Development,” where we could feature some different characters every single week.
