‘Supernatural’ season 10 spoilers: How Misha Collins’ Castiel factors in to ‘The Hunter Games’

One poster -Happy New Year to all of the “Supernatural” family! What better way to celebrate than by sharing some of the first details from the upcoming winter premiere? “The Hunter Games” is the name of the show’s first episode back, and it is going to be airing come Tuesday, January 20. Look! Another pop-culture reference in the name! Somehow, this show manages to remain among the best in the business when it comes to episode titles.

There are many stories that are interesting to us with this episode already, with one of the major ones being a Castiel story! We’re thrilled first and foremost that the guy is actually getting to work with Sam and Dean after some sporadic time away, and their goal is fairly unified: Find a way to cure the Mark of Cain that is turning Dean into a killer.

Unfortunately, this proves to not exactly be an easy task for any of them:

“After the massacre at the ranch, Dean (Jensen Ackles), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Castiel (Misha Collins) double their efforts to find a cure for the Mark of Cain but there is nothing in the lore that can help them. Desperate, Castiel comes up with an idea that Sam deems the “single worst idea I’ve ever heard.” Meanwhile, Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell) continues to plot against Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and Castiel tries to mend his relationship with Claire (guest star Kathryn Love Newton) who is plotting revenge against Dean for killing her friend.”

So what is the “single worst idea” that Sam’s ever heard? He’s heard some pretty bad ones over the years, so we’re curious! This is also an interesting move for The CW to really hype up one line in particular for an episode. We rather like it.
