Is ‘The Good Wife’ season 6, episode 11 new tonight? Also, a Julianna Margulies peek

The Good WifeIt’s been a long wait for fans of “The Good Wife,” but we come today bearing some very-welcome news: Sunday marks the last time that there will not be a new episode on CBS for a little while. Come January 4, the show returns to the network with new episodes, and it begins with a potentially-excellent hour of television entitled “Hail Mary.”

What is the focus of this story? It seems to have multiple layers to it. First and foremost, this story will revolve around Alicia and company doing everything they can to find a solution that could save Cary Agos from jail time. If they fail, they lose a valuable attorney and a partner in the firm.

Following that, though, Julianna Margulies’ character has many other priorities, and one of them is the upcoming State’s Attorney Election. The sneak peek below showcases one aspect of how she is preparing for some major debates, and it involves taking on her own husband. If she can defeat Peter in verbal warfare, shouldn’t she be good to go?

Ultimately, it feels almost like Alicia is channeling some of her anger over her marriage into this this particular debate, and that is probably in part why it makes such captivating television in the end. (This is also why Margulies gets so much recognition come awards season.)

Think of “Hail Mary” as more of a testing ground when it comes to debates. Some of the real tests for her versus David Hyde Pierce are going to come January 11.
