See ‘Awkward,’ ‘Faking It’ stars in new MTV video

The hard news for most who watch “Awkward” or “Faking It” right now is pretty simple: There is not exactly a whole lot to discuss right now when it comes to either show. They will be off the air until spring, and there is not even a confirmed return date just yet.

Well, you can at least see some of the show’s stars, including Jillian Rose Reed, Katie Stevens, and Rita Volk in the video below courtesy of Todrick. The actor / dancer / entertainer has a new show debuting on MTV next year, so this is way to ring in the holidays before launching it.

There are some pretty fun connections in this video, at least when you think about “American Idol” season 9. Stevens was a contestant on that season who made it pretty deep, while Todrick was eliminated fairly early during the live shows.

Fun story: We remember interviewing Todrick for a different publication way back then, and he repeatedly mentioned how badly he wanted to get on “Glee.” Given the state of TV media and reality-show alum not really going anywhere, there were a good many people back then pretty cynical. Typically, “American Idol” alum who go home before a certain point don’t show up again. However, Todrick has worked his butt off, and really gotten himself to a great place in the industry. He deserves a heck of a lot of credit in the world for proving a number of people, including us, that he can break the mold and we shouldn’t be so cynical.
