‘The Fall’ season 3: Does Gillian Anderson series have a future on BBC Two?

The FallCould Gibson exist without Spector? “The Fall” season 2 ends on BBC Two Thursday night, and this is one of the questions that comes to mind for us immediately.

Regardless of what happens to Jamie Dornan’s character at the end of tonight’s finale (which is airing as we write this), we do imagine that if there is more, it could be difficult to continue unless Dornan finds time in his schedule. Being a big movie star can change things, and he does have “Fifty Shades of Grey” coming early next year.

If there was a way to use him, provided that he survives the finale, it would be hoping that he would view this as Benedict Cumberbatch views “Sherlock.” Benedict continues to make new seasons of the BBC One series occasionally, and just schedules them around movie roles.

As for Gillian Anderson, doing another season could have challenges for her, as well. She is currently a series regular over on “Hannibal,” and it is difficult to pull double-duty on different shows. Then again, it is possible. That one only runs 13 episodes, and this one only six. The great thing about “The Fall” is that it could yield some fairly flexible scheduling, mostly because there is no guarantee that all of the episodes have to be filmed at the same time.

We will have further news related to the future of “The Fall” soon, so stay tuned!
