‘American Idol XIV’ spoilers: Ryan Seacrest on shift to one-night format

American Idol XIV -While this has been speculated to be the case for “American Idol XIV” for almost the past six months, it has been fairly clear that the show was going to be shifting to something similar to “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Both of those shows only air a single show a week, and come time for some of the live shows, this longtime singing show will be doing something great.

This new was confirmed by none other than its host in Ryan Seacrest, who told The Hollywood Reporter that the they “are going to do the performance show and the results in the same show.” For a while, we wondered if this could be something that changed following the initial plan. Why? The ratings for other Fox programs have been almost completely in the toilet as of late, and it feels like this could really be an excellent opportunity for the show to help out the numbers. Maybe Fox is feeling ambitious about their midseason lineup; or, maybe it is more cost-effective to only do one show when you are paying so much money to your judges.

In the end, our biggest concern is just that you are going to be cramming a whole lot of content into two hours. However, at the same time, this should be a chance to cut out all of the unnecessary filler from some of the results shows.

New episodes of “American Idol” will start airing on Fox in the new year.
