ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Homeland,’ ‘The Blacklist’ guest to recur

Scandal -The future of “Scandal” is still up in the air, but we can at least tell you right now about one particular guest star who will be stopping by.

According to a new report coming in from Entertainment Weekly, Jason Butler Harner, whose guest credits include “Homeland” and “The Blacklist,” has signed up for some sort of recurring role. Unfortunately, that is all you are going to get. ABC is continuing to adhere to the Shonda Rhimes – “no spoilers” policy, but we would understand if you were to think that this character is connected to the kidnapping of Olivia Pope.

The show is going to return come Thursday, January 29, and Harner could appear at any point here or after. The show is typically pretty good about newcomers on the cast, and can somehow keep that a secret a good bit longer than you would really expect for them to be able to.

The only thing that we hope for from both this casting, and really the rest of season 4, is that it does not completely mire itself in the same stuff as every other season. If you want to continue to give the Olivia story drama with Fitz, at least find a way to keep it exciting! Also, don’t feel like you have to free Olivia right away. There is a certain value in seeing how everyone else reacts to her kidnapping over the course of several episodes.

We are going to have more “Scandal” scoop getting closer to its return, so stay tuned!
