‘The X Factor’ UK review: Andrea Faustini, Ben Haenow, Lauren Platt, Fleur East compete for final

The judges -Tonight’s episode of “The X Factor” is clearly a big one, since the winner of the competition is going to have a huge opportunity to perform during the final. Therefore, they have a real shot at winning everything!

The remaining four contestants are performing two different songs over the course of this show. One of them is a track that was originally popularized as a holiday song. As for the other? It’s more along the lines of one that they think is going to propel them into the finals.

Fleur East

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” – This is not an easy song for anyone to sing. As a matter of fact, it is pretty darn hard. Fleur did a great job with the performance of the song, but we didn’t actually think it was that great vocally.

“Uptown Funk” – Hey, it’s an extremely-current song! It’s also a song that Simon Cowell changed up on her at the very last second. Therefore, we have to give Fleur some credit for actually being cool enough to get the choreography down in such a short period of time.

Lauren Platt

“Stay Another Day” – Lauren apparently really loves Christmas. Could that be an advantage? We can at least say that this is a nice performance; it didn’t do anything for us emotionally, but it was nice.

“Story of My Life” – It’s always good to have someone do a One Direction song, mostly because all of those fans are out there. Still, we’re slightly bummed that the show seems so disinterested in letting her perform at the end of the show, almost like they don’t want her to have a chance to win.

Ben Haenow

“Please Come Home for Christmas” – A good choice, since we see the Eagles as something within his musical sensibility. Ben did his thing with it, but there was not a whole lot of a challenge with the song.

“Hallelujah” – Well, it’s an old Simon Cowell favorite. We did not really really like the weird arrangement choices in here, but did like the voice and the way in which Ben actually felt the words of the song.

Andrea Faustini

“O Holy Night” – This is considered one of the biggest Christmas songs out there, and it was perfect for Andrea. He sang it beautifully, and this is a song that everyone the entire world over is familiar with already.

“Wrecking Ball” – Was it the right choice for Andrea? Well, we still wonder about if this was a song that he could really connect to despite Mel’s insistence otherwise. Still, the man is a vocal BEAST. Fleur may be a better performer, but he is by far the best vocalist of the season.

Overall, we feel like Lauren’s almost for sure gone before the finale. It’s sad for her, but the other three were all so strong, and she performed earlier in the show.
