Katy Perry makes Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show gig official … with ‘Big Brother’s’ Zingbot?

After months of speculation and at times very-real drama from the NFL, we finally have confirmation that Katy Perry is going to be the headlining perform at the upcoming Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show.

For Katy, this is without question an honor and a win. This event is watched by hundreds of millions of people around the world, and it is a testament really to the major success she had with her last two albums “Prism” and “Teenage Dream,” which is one of the biggest hit albums of all time.

What was slightly strange was the way in which Perry announced this, during a video skit-of-sorts that aired during tonight’s “Sunday Night Football” on NBC. At around the 30-second mark, we’re pretty sure that a knock-off version of the Zingbot from “Big Brother” makes an appearance. That made us probably more excited than anything else, but this Zingbot gave us zero “props” or zings.

Instead, this was all about all of the various big things that Perry wants to do during the big game, including the outfits that she wants to wear and some of the set pieces.

Of course, there is no mention in here of what was for a long time one of the biggest sticking points regarding Perry or anyone else being in charge of the halftime show: The whole idea that the NFL would take a share of touring income from whoever got the gig. Perry previously said that she would never agree to something like that to be a part of the show, so we don’t think that happened here.
