‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6, episode 6 review: Is Sam guilty of murder?
We have seen this story line on other crime shows: The cop that gets framed for murder, but we haven’t seen it done with Sam on “NCIS: Los Angeles”. Recycled story lines are going to happen on crimes shows (heck last week we saw three stories on three different crime shows all involving social media), but it’s how you tell the story that makes or breaks the episode and with Sam at the center of the story – we know it’s going to be good… right?
Sam and Callen get pulled over by FBI and Sam is arrested for murder (of course Sam and Callen are both clueless as to what is going on). The victim that Sam is accused of murdering is Leyla Walden (her neck was broken) and he has no alibi for his whereabouts when the murder happened.
Callen’s been restricted from field duty by Owen, knowing that he will go rogue to help Sam – which is exactly what he does. Callen breaks into the arresting officer’s car to get information about what they have on Sam and they say that his DNA was found on the victim. They also have video footage of a man leaving Leyla’s house that looks like Sam. After Callen and Owen get some dirt on the officer’s that arrested Sam (seems that they were sleeping together behind the wife’s back) he is released on probation. They learn that Sam has a doppelganger named Lee Stevens that’s a con man wanted for murder.
When Sam meets up with his doppelganger (that doesn’t look much like LL Cool J in our opinion besides being bald and big) he makes him cry, gets an admission and then arrests him for the murder of Leyla.
Watching Deeks dancing around a room full of guns with his back to a killer shouting “if you shoot me in the back it’s murder” was easily the highlight for us. Also, for a man arrested for murder (even if he didn’t do it) we expected Sam to be a little more shaken up. Episode grade: C
