‘The Flash’ spoilers: Grant Gustin teases ‘Arrow’ crossover with Emily Bett Rickards
Tomorrow night, we’re going to have our first “Arrow” crossover on “The Flash,” or at least the first that has any significant screen time. (There was a slight Oliver Queen cameo in the pilot.)
You’re most-likely not going to see much of Emily Bett Rickards in Starling City Wednesday, mostly because Felicity’s going to be paying Barry Allen a visit in Central City … where the two have quite a bit of catching up to do. For one, Barry has to explain just who Iris West really is to him (there’s already been some confusion on that front), and there’s also the issue known as him having those crazy superpowers. We imagine this being something that Felicity would be interested in knowing about.
So is there a full-fledged date scene between the two in the episode? Speaking to TVLine, Grant Gustin made it clear that while they’d be meeting alongside Iris and her name flame Eddie Thawne, things are not going to be altogether comfortable:
“It’s pretty awkward … For the audience, it’s going to be very funny and enjoyable. It’s not a typical double date. It’s more like [an] awkward game night between friends.”
There was some great chemistry between Barry and Felicity over on “Arrow,” but we have to be realistic about the chances these two work it out at this point: It’s unlikely. Having this many crossovers to keep the relationship going is challenges, and they each have other relationships on their respective shows. A good comparison could be Klaus and Caroline, who are split between “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.”
We thought that we’d close here with one more interesting update: With the full live+7 data added, the show’s total viewership of 6.8 million for the premiere make it the most-watched series broadcast in CW history. With a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic, it is also #2 all-time in that measure.
