‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6, episode 5 review: Sam and Callen’s not so excellent adventure

If you are a fan of the Kensi and Deeks “will they/won’t they” relationship on “NCIS: Los Angeles” then you were likely a fan of last week’s episode of the show. We saw the partners talk about baby names which was pretty cute, but we also saw them get flustered when they had to explain why they were showing up to work together. These two are masters of making a situation look worse then it really is when they get nervous.

When an covert operations office gets shot up and an employee (Milton) goes missing, Sam and Callen find themselves going rogue into Mexico to find him. Things turn south for our favorite agents as soon as they cross the boarder as they are robbed of their guns, truck, ear pieces, ID and phones… by DEA agents who don’t want them nosing around. The agents give Sam and Callen a hoopty car and crappy revolvers, and then send them on their way.

With the help of a brothel worker, they find Milton hiding at his fiancees house (with her mother and all of her sisters), but because Callen and Sam lost their ID’s to DEA they have no way to prove to Milton that they are who they say they are.

The men that hit the office track Sam and Callen to Milton’s location asking for Milton in exchange for everyone else living. What Sam and Callen don’t know is that these men want Milton because they are working with him and the person they were trying to hit was Milton’s boss. After much gun fire, of course Sam and Callen came out on top, but not before doing one more good deed in leaving some of the money they found in Milton’s bag behind for them.

If you were hoping for more on Kensi and Deeks tonight, you were likely disappointed with the lack of movement on these two, but there was a little flirting as usual. If you are big Sam and Callen fans, this was a great episode – especially watching Sam try to act smooth in the brothel. Episode grade: C
