‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Where do ratings stand for Peter Capaldi, cast entering finale?

The latest -It has been a while since since we’ve touched on the ratings for “Doctor Who,” but with the first part of the finale (which encompasses several weeks) airing next week, it seems like a good time to check back in on where the series stands

While this is no “Downton Abbey” or “Strictly Come Dancing” when it comes to total viewership in the UK, we’re getting a sense that the viewership for Peter Capaldi and company is as consistent as consistent can be. Overall, just over five million people in the country watched “In the Forest of the Night” Saturday, which was a slight increase from the week before with “Flatline.” Other than the first three episodes of the season, it and “Mummy on the Orient Express” are the only two episodes to make it to the five million threshold in the live ratings.

Still, viewership is pretty steady here across the board, at least other than the premiere which had significantly better numbers. With this sort of consistency, there is very little reason to doubt that the show will be going anywhere in the near future. When you factor in other viewing data, they are reasonably comparable to the numbers that we saw the show do during the final season with Matt Smith as the Doctor. Consistency is really the only thing that you can ask for with a show like this for the most part.

We will have more on what is coming up for the show’s finale very soon, so be on the lookout for that!
