The CW hands ‘Jane the Virgin,’ ‘The Flash’ full seasons
In a statement confirming the news, CW programming head Mark Pedowitz had the following to say:
“We have had a fantastic start to our season this year, with The Flash launching as our most-watched series premiere ever, and Jane the Virgin recognized as the best new show this season by critics across the country.
“Over the past three seasons, we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows, and The Flash and Jane have both exceeded our expectations on all counts.”
It’s funny that for many years, the TV media universe mocked The CW; now, they may have the best thing going when it comes to their identity, and are producing shows that are mostly of a higher quality. “The Flash” and “Jane the Virgin” are both tremendous, at least if you can make up for the latter’s terrible name.
The biggest surprise is that there is not an official cancellation yet so far, though Fox is clearly starting to phase out “Utopia.” This shows to us that networks really have any confidence at all in what they have coming up at midseason.
