NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 3 spoilers: Mads Mikkelsen on Lecter, Bedelia

Hannibal -This weekend, the cast and crew of “Hannibal” are spending a little bit of time at PaleyFest in New York, and in the process, we had a handful of details handed out on the upcoming third season.

Much of the information was handed out already at Comic-Con, including that the season is basically being split into two halves. The first of this will be the search for Hannibal in Europe (where he is hiding with Bedelia); as for the second, it will be more of a telling of Red Dragon that could be more of an extended case.

So why Bedelia? Why is she the person who chose to accompany Dr. Lecter on his impromptu journey? Mads Mikkelsen told the crowd (and those streaming the event) that this is not something that the show plans to give up right away:

“We’re not going to give the whole truth away … If you get an explanation for the whole thing, it falls apart.”

There are many mysteries that are still to come when it comes to “Hannibal” beyond these two, and not all of them were answered in this panel. For example, it is still unclear how Will, Jack, and many other characters survived the attack in the finale, just as it is unclear how exactly Will is going to find Hannibal once he gets overseas.

Of course, some other big highlights include more shifts coming from the source material, and also seeing the emotional implications of what happened to everyone in the finale, realizing that Will had been right for such a long time.
