‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 5 preview: Therapy struggles for Callie, Arizona

What's next? -Thursday night’s new “Grey’s Anatomy” episode is looking to be quite the emotional one, and this is definitely true if you are a fan of the Callie / Arizona relationship.

In the sneak peek video at the bottom of this article, you can see Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw’s characters involved in one of the most tense showdowns ever in therapy, where they chose to let out most of their frustrations and indiscretions over the past several years. It began when Arizona went to Africa without Callie, while it was her original plan to have someone with her. Of course, while Arizona was away, Callie became pregnant with Mark’s child.

There are other problems also brought up through here, with the most notable one being simply that Arizona feels like Callie makes the vast majority of the choices in their relationship, which also may be tied into the fact that she amputated Arizona after the plane crash. This isn’t explicitly mentioned, but we know that this remains a very enormous point of contention between the two.

By the end of this episode, maybe we’ll know whether or not these two are going to keep trying to make this relationship work. We want to think that they will, but the thing to remember here is that creator / showrunner Shonda Rhimes is not the sort of person who will just keep two people together for the sake of pleasing the fans. These two need to get their feelings out there, and if they need to be apart, they’ll be apart. They can’t start fresh, but they may at least need to figure out how to leave the past in the past.
