‘The Newsroom’ season 3 spoilers: First take on Jeff Daniels, cast in premiere ‘Boston’
Just from the title of the “Newsroom” season 3 premiere alone, you probably can assume one thing: The Boston Marathon bombing is probably going to be a big story. It also makes sense when it comes to the timeline of the show; the story tends to lag at least a year behind real-time, and this is the sort of major current event that ACN would cover.
However, there is another important aspect of the November 9 episode “Boston” that you have to remember here, and that is how the “News Night” team is recovering from the Operation Genoa fiasco that made the network into a laughingstock. You can see the short synopsis for this episode via SpoilerTV below:
“Season 3 begins in April 2013 in the aftermath of the Genoa disaster, so the “News Night” team treat a breaking story cautiously, a strategy that could benefit them in the long run. Meanwhile, an anonymous source contacts Neal about stolen government documents that may be related to riots overseas; Sloan tries to solve a puzzle; and Maggie subs for Elliot following the Boston Marathon bombings.”
The biggest thing to really take note of in here, in addition to some of the current events being covered, is the story involving Neal. This is something that will be a huge component of the entire third season, as we start to get some further information about how the government wants to threaten and possibly even bully ACN into giving up their sourcces.
