‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ preview: The tribe swap and shock over Drew’s exit

Survivor -At this point, there really shouldn’t be a whole lot that shocks players on a “Survivor” season. However, the new preview for Wednesday night’s episode (which you can see at the end of the “Survivor Live” video below) features many shocked faces.

Obviously, Coyopa is stunned at the revelation that Drew Christy was voted out of Hunahpu. We understand why. On the surface, it did actually look like he was in a pretty good spot among the group. He volunteered to go to Exile Island (something that a concerned player may not do, unless desperate to get an immunity idol), and the tribe seemed to have fun with some of his shenanigans with Jeff Probst.

Overall, though, Drew’s brother Alec seemed to be taking the news pretty well. With that being said, we still would not be shocked if he also leaves the game early now. He’s a physical threat, and he seems like he may have a hard time in some social settings based on what we’ve seen already. There’s almost too much of a desire to prove himself.

Also, there is shock over the tribal swap, which we have to say we’re not that big of a fan of this season. The tribe dynamics were already interesting, and it felt like with Drew gone, Coyopa could still find a way to win a few challenges to even the playing field. Why make things less crazy when they just started to get crazy? The one interesting thing that comes with that is that some family members are most likely going to be paired together on the same tribe, and that makes them immediate targets since a two-person voting block is substantial.

Finally, more props to Malcolm Freberg as guest host. We don’t know if this is a permanent gig for him just yet, but we hope that it becomes one.
