ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 5 preview: Kerry Washington, ‘The Key,’ and distractions
If there’s one thing we know about “Scandal” at this point, it is that things almost never get better prior to them getting so much worse. The only time Olivia Pope may be genuinely happy is in the closing minutes of the series finale.
In tonight’s episode, Kerry Washington’s character had to deal with some X-rated drama involving the First Daughter, and if that wasn’t bad enough, she had to deal with Fitz and his million or so emotions stemming from learning the truth about her not-so-little getaway with Jake in between seasons. “The Key” is the title for the episode airing in a week, and this is going to be a story that gives Olivia trouble. Jake’s now angry at her, and to make matters worse, she has many more professional responsibilities to take care for.
To get some further details, just take a look right now at the attached synopsis:
“Olivia and the team continue to investigate Catherine’s case, but Olivia is distracted when Jake stops returning her calls. Meanwhile, Cyrus falls deeper into the rabbit hole with Michael, David realizes what it’s like to finally be a winner in DC and Fitz seeks answers to Jerry’s death.”
While nothing is going to be getting any better for Olivia in the near future, we feel like we can at least say that this season is really starting to find its footing. “Scandal” never really starts for us until Olivia and Fitz are in the same room together, and now that this has started, some of the actual fireworks can actually begin.
