‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: ‘Battlestar Galactica’ alum to be Bishop’s husband Jake
We’ve been wondering for a while who would be the husband of Ellie Bishop on “NCIS,” and the producers have seemingly made their choice now in Jamie Bamber.
According to a new report from TVLine, former “Battlestar Galactica” actor Jamie Bamber is going to appear in the upcoming Thanksgiving-themed episode of the show as Jake, the oft-discussed hubby to Emily Wickersham’s character. This is a chance to learn a little bit more about both characters, and also estalbish what Bishop’s worldview is more when she is away from work.
In a statement on the casting, showrunner Gary Glasberg had the following to say:
“We’ve waited a long time to meet Bishop’s husband, and we’ve found him in Jamie Bamber … Jamie is a charming, talented actor, and we’re thrilled to have him on-board for this Thanksgiving episode and some exciting surprises to come.”
At present, we’re a little torn in our take on the casting. We like Bamber a good deal, but for some reason we pictured Bishop’s husband in our head as some sort of nerdy, quirky guy. We figured that given her awkwardness, we would have someone similar to her in some ways in the show. Maybe he will end up being that and we don’t even know it yet; the problem is that sometimes, it is very hard to judge a book by its cover, or a casting by an actor’s face without much known about their personality.
This does at least resolve a casting mystery we’ve had since the summer; now, the only one left is figuring out who is going to play one of Gibbs’ mystery exes for an episode seemingly coming alter this season.

I like Bamber a lot, and it’s too bad he’s being put into this role. I’m glad he’s getting work, but why does it have to be Bishop’s stupid husband? I don’t like her so I don’t want to meet him.

Not understanding the importance of Bishop’s husband. Why would we want to explore Bishop’s worldview when she is not at work? The Bishop character has not been well-received by a large number of fans but yet she is still on the show. Adding her husband to the mix is like pouring salt in a wound. I wish they would focus more on the individual case of the week and tone down all of these foreign plots. We already get that from NCIS LA. This show has changed a lot and in my opinion not in a good way. I get that they lost a cast member (Ziva) and that they have to add someone new. But the changes that they have made seem tone-deaf and have altered the whole feel of the show and the characters that we have followed for 12 seasons.
