MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4, episode 15 review: Are Jenna, Owen going too fast?

Awkward -Tonight’s “Awkward” contained many milestones, most notably the bonfire that was going to close out the entire first half of senior year.

Also, it contained a variety of emotional moments, notably in the department of Jenna Hamilton’s personal life. She learned early on that she had actually been Owen’s “first,” and this creates an emotional bond that she probably was not prepared for. The guy wrote a song about her, and then also decided to play the bonfire.

While Jenna was thinking about Owen, she also had to deal with a phone book that was stuffed full of women who were slammed by some of the jobs at Palos Hills. The dagger that hurt the most? Finding out that Matty at completely slammed her back in sophomore year. He may have been younger and much more immature, but those feelings still hurt.

Luckily, he did come to his senses and burned the book at the bonfire, which in turn brought his relationship with tennis star Gabby to the next level. He wasn’t the only person who found a little bit of romance, given that Sadie and Sergio moved forward, and even Valerie got her game on!

Unfortunately for Owen, the good fortune did not extend to him. Jenna tried to break up with at the end of the episode, and while she meant those words, the promo for next week makes it seem like this won’t entirely stick. The funny thing is that we’ve known plenty of people like Owen over the years, and few of them ever really get what they want. Hopefully, he will get a happier ending on this show, even if it’s not with Jenna. Grade: B+.
