‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Will Nucky survive against Luciano?

Can you now believe that it is only two weeks away from the series finale of “Boardwalk Empire”? That is something that we are still trying to digest, given that for most of season 5, the story has taken its time getting to where it is right now. When you remember that there are only eight episodes in this season, that most-likely makes matters all the more challenging.

So what will the name of the game be in the penultimate episode of the show airing next week? Well, the title here is “Friendless Child,” and he and Luciano are going to be at odds in a way that they have not been before. Meanwhile, you are going to see so much more of Young Nucky. Suffice it to say, this story is at present far from over in both time periods. Just take a look at the official synopsis below for more:

“At war with Luciano, Nucky looks to hold onto his assets in Atlantic City. Willie (Ben Rosenfield) and Eli become involved in Nucky’s war. Maranzano meets his fate. Nucky reads Gillian’s (Gretchen Mol) letter from the hospital. In 1897, Mabel and Nucky argue about a young runaway from Trenton, while Nucky does a discreet favor for the Commodore (John Elllison Conlee).”

The one other tease that we can share for the time being is ultimately simple: Whatever happens in this episode Sunday night, you better prepare for this carrying over directly into the series finale. Things are not going to end on this series with a whimper, even if there have been some slow builds in here. With two beloved characters gone, that is not the case here.
