‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: Episode 2 also receives extended treatment

Freak Show -Well, apparently Ryan Murphy is starting to have even more in common with Kurt Sutter; not only are the two prolific showrunners the men in part behind two of FX’s greatest shows, but they also each have the goodwill with the network to make their episodes however long that they ultimately need to be.

The message from Murphy’s Twitter page earlier this week concerning “American Horror Story: Freak Show” by and large speaks for itself:

“Because we love our FREAK SHOW fans, next week’s episode is also 90 minutes…just like the premiere! Wait until you meet Michael & Angela!”

Murphy is referring to Angela Bassett and Michael Chiklis, who are each regulars this season, and will also completely stir up the landscape in Jupiter, Florida. Michael’s Dell is the estranged father of Jimmy (Evan Peters), and their balance for power within the community will become a prominent storyline. The fact that Chiklis has a new lady in his life in Bassett’s character does not help.

Will every single episode in the season be this long? It’s incredibly doubtful, mostly because the cast and the editors would probably die from exhaustion. (We’re sarcastic … sort of.) We do feel at the same time that there will be at least a few more longer episodes along the way, mostly because that precedent is there, and we feel like you can probably say the same thing about the overall level of demand. When you have a show that is this good, it is very hard to really dispute it … at least so long as the episodes are not bloated.
