‘The X Factor’ UK review: Jay James, Lizzy Pattinson, Raign, more advance … for now

The judges -While the first half of “The X Factor” was about the Boys, Simon Cowell took on the Overs in the second. This was actually a decent category this year, even if there was a sort of split between the joke acts and the ones who could actually win the competition. Just remember that last year, Sam Bailey won from this category.

Since the series cut things off before the round was even over tonight, we still have no idea who the final lineup will be. For now, we’ll at least present to you the six singers in chairs, and then the one who is going to take one of their spots away.

Kisela Berica – She is not an amazing singer, and probably will have her chair taken away tomorrow. Not a ton of drama here.

Ben Haenow – Very strong. We’d be shocked if he ends up without a spot just thanks to natural talent alone.

Raign – She can sign, but also has this trainwreck quality to her where something pretty appalling could happen at any given moment. balance is really the key here.

Stevi Ritchie – The guy is fun, but is he actually good? There’s a pretty big difference between the two, and if he makes it to the live shows, it is as pure fodder.

Janet Grogan – We question how she stands out against similar singers, but there’s no doubting she has more talent than almost anyone other than Ben, Jay, and Lizzy.

Lizzy Pattinson – Lizzy is obviously going to be an interesting contestant to watch, given her family connections. She is talented, but we worry about her relative lack of screen time.

Jay James – We’re left waiting to see what happens to Jay, who is probably the best singer in this whole category.
