‘Girl Meets World’ episode 9 preview: A trip in time for ‘Girl Meets 1961’

Does anyone out there love time travel? If you answer this question with a “yes,” then we imagine that you are definitely going to enjoy what lies ahead on “Girl Meets World” … even if it is not actual time travel a la “Doctor Who.” (We guess that’s not either, but then that’s just getting really out there.)

The episode airing next week is entitled “Girl Meets 1961,” and the short synopsis below should at least give you some insight into what to expect:

“Cory gives the class a living-history assignment that takes the four friends back to New York City in 1961.”

What we are mostly excited about here are the costumes, since “Girl Meets World” has shown a knack already for getting some of its characters into funny outfits. We imagine that not that much else will really change. While there have been stories referencing phones and the internet, none of that really plays an enormous role in the story the vast majority of the time. Instead, it remains largely about the characters.

Still, the possibilities for this episode are largely wide-open. This is the vaguest synopsis that the Disney Channel has released to date, and usually they tend to spell out some of the primary plots more.

Overall, there is still quite a bit to look forward to. We feel like the show is starting to find its footing, and pair off characters in new and interesting ways. Over time, they are figuring out how to make this show different, while still capturing the “Boy Meets World” spirit.
