‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ castaway spotlight: Can Wes Nale outshine his dad?
We’re doing two “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” castaway spotlights tonight to catch back up on getting one done every weekday, and after getting through with discussing Keith Nale, we’re not moving on to his son Wes.
After reading their bios and watching their videos, we do have a feeling that Wes Nale has the capacity to do better than his fire captain father. How much better? That is probably up for debate, since they both have distinct advantages and disadvantages.
Name – Wes Nale
Age – 23
Occupation – Firefighter
Location – Shreveport, Louisiana
Strengths – Physically strong, socially capable, and a desire to go far in the game. He’s also got a funny story in that he’s still living with his parents, but thinks he’s all that and can dominate in anything. We feel like he will be a character on his tribe, and may be kept around a while for entertainment to go along with challenge ability.
Weaknesses – Could Wes be a little coo competitive? We really liked him with his dad in the video, but there are a couple of things in his video that suggest that he’s not that great at the game. For one, he compares himself to Russell Hantz, and that’s not a good idea. If you’re from Louisiana and you start acting like Russell, people are going to think you’re his 2nd cousin or something and get rid of you. The guy thinks too highly of himself given he’s never played the game.
Past “Survivor” comparison – Based on the video, we would have said a combination of JT and Fabio; however, after reading his bio, we’d start to throw in there Jay Byars and maybe a little Shannon from “Nicaragua.” Some of these guys did well, others did not.
Prediction – It’s going to be a toss-up for Wes when it comes to if he can keep up a happy-go-lucky persona and be the nice guy around camp. If he can do that and still make moves, he’s got a chance to go far. However, we get a sense that he’s going to try a little too hard and be one of the first gone after the merge.
