‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Simon Baker returns to director’s chair

The latest -Simon Baker is going to continue to wear more than one hat on “The Mentalist” season 7. He is obviously the star of the show and one of the highest-paid drama series actors out there, in part because he also has a producer credit on the show.

Meanwhile, Simon is also a frequent director on the series, having most-recently taken on the show’s repilot-of-sorts “My Blue Heaven.” Now, we know that he has another episode coming up, as well. In a post on Twitter, editor Jimmy Gadd confirmed that Baker will be directing “Silver Briefcase,” which is the fifth episode of the upcoming season. In terms of episode titles, this is not our favorite, mostly because we like the color theme to feel almost natural, and not just tacked-on to another word. You could have a green briefcase, for example, and not have it be any different. Maybe it’ll make some more sense when the episode airs.

The story for “The Mentalist” this coming season does seem to be simple enough in theory, given that we’re preparing to take a dive again into the Jane / Lisbon dynamic now that the two are in a relationship. In theory, you would have to imagine that this is going to change things in a pretty big way.

As of right now, some of the other “Mentalist” episode titles include “Orange Blossom Ice Cream” (our favorite, given that this is actually a real thing) and “Pink Rocks,” which feels like candy that you pick up in a gift shop while out on a mining tour in Colorado.
