‘The Newsroom’ season 3: Emily Mortimer lines up major work post-series

The Newsroom -With the news that “The Newsroom” is ending on HBO after three seasons, this is the time when some of the show’s primary cast members have to look forward, and figure out what they are going to do with the rest of their careers.

Emily Mortimer is one of these people. Thanks to her other series “Doll & Em,” she is already busier than most. Now, The Hollywood Reporter claims that she has been tapped to star in “Spectral,” a new action series with supernatural ties from Legendary. Specifically, her role is going to be a CIA mission leader in a story all about a Special Ops team that takes on and fights supernatural beings in a European city.

Mortimer’s participation here basically secures that she is not going to run out of work anytime soon, and deservedly so give how fantastic an actress she is on the HBO show. Her role as Mackenzie McHale is an anchor of the ACN Newsroom, and things took a major turn for her personally in the season 2 finale when she accepted Will McAvoy’s proposal.

Now, the question from here is where the character will end up. there will almost certainly be a time jump from one season to the next, which most likely means that either Will and Mackenzie are already married, that they have broken up again, or they are knee-deep into the planning process. We don’t feel like romance is the most important thing going on with Aaron Sorkin most of the time, so we have no problem with them potentially being at the next phase of their romantic lives.
