‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Who is playing ‘Frozen’s’ Queen Elsa?

Frozen -The biggest “Once Upon a Time” question of the entire year now has an answer, and it is one that should make some fans of “Fringe” more than excited.

Sources have confirmed that Georgina Haig, who had a pivotal role on the Fox series’ fifth and final season, will play the famous ice queen Elsa from “Frozen” throughout the first half of the ABC show’s fourth season. She is not someone who we had on our list of potential actors for the role, but we also understand the choice very much. By the transitive property of TV producers, she does have a connection to “Once Upon a Time” creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis already. The two worked on “Lost” under J.J. Abrams, who also was the executive producer on “Fringe.” She also happens to be a strong actress who bears a physical resemblance to Elsa already.

We know that there are some who had hoped for a bigger name in the part, like “Lost’s” Maggie Grace or “24: Live Another Day’s” Yvonne Strahovski. We feel ultimately like the reason the show went away from this big-name strategy is that they did not want the actor to overshadow the character, and for everyone to see Elsa and think about someone else. The last thing that they wanted to do was cast someone in the role who would polarize fans before they even got a chance to see them on the show, even though we think the two ladies we just mentioned would have been great.
