‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Spanish province confirmed as filming location
The news coming out today is definitely good for those who love to see a wide range of geography on “Game of Thrones“: The series is going to be heading to Spain very soon!
It was confirmed this week that the series will be filming portions of the upcoming episodes in the province of Seville, and while they will not specific individual places for now, the assumption that many are making is simply that this will be the setting for the fictional land we know as Dorne. Even if you have not read the books, did you really think that the story of the Martell family was going to end with the death of Oberyn? This may be more of a jumping-off point than anything else, as sad as we are to see the character go.
HBO has already filmed in a number of different countries for the show, including Northern Ireland (where the interior sets are located), Iceland in multiples times of the year, the city of Dubrovnik, Croatia (otherwise known as King’s Landing), and Morocco. Spain is a fitting place in our mind for Dorne, and at the end of the day, it may not be the only country that the show adds to its roster. Thanks to its ratings and the DVD sales, the show is able to afford such expense where many others would fail.
Of course, it will still be quite some time before there is a variety of details available about the new season, but you have to believe that we will have more the moment it becomes available.
