‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: The Queen meets Kit Harrington, Sophie Turner, more

Game of Thrones -The cast of “Game of Thrones” often deals with royalty, but it is typically the fake kind that includes brothers and sisters sleeping with each other.

This week, there was a much more significant sense of royalty around the show, as the likes of Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Conleth Hill (Varys), and Rose Leslie (Ygritte) were all visited by none other than Queen Elizabeth II in Northern Ireland. As we reported recently, one of the real reasons for this appearance was a way to recognize the show for its contributions to the economy. “Game of Thrones” has become a huge boon to tourism in the area, and it also has provided a number of jobs.

It is interesting that Leslie was in attendance for the meeting, given that (spoiler alert!) her character died during the season 4 episode “The Watchers on the Wall.” We don’t take this as any sort of sign that Ygritte is suddenly going to be brought back from the dead or anything. This is probably just something that mattered to her given her upbringing and history. Most of the actors in attendance for this meeting were the ones that hailed from the United Kingdon. Notice that American Peter Dinklage was not in attendance, and nor was Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Denmark. “Game of Thrones” season 5 production really hasn’t even started to rev up yet, so that may be another reason why only certain cast members appeared.

If you were a member of the “Game of Thrones” cast, would you be excited to see the Queen in attendance at your set?
