‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: Caterina Scorsone promoted to series regular
If you followed the trajectory near the end of “Grey’s Anatomy” season 10, then you probably saw this news coming via Caterina Scorsone: You are going to be seeing a whole lot more of her on the series moving forward.
According to a new report from TV Guide, Scorsone has been promoted to regular for the eleventh season, which is more than a year removed from her stint on “Private Practice.” While there is no firm replacement for Cristina Yang on the series, Ameliais going to be the closest thing that we have. She is Derek’s sister, and therefore someone who s convenient to have around. This means that Meredith is going to have some sort of confidant that extends beyond just her husband, since she and Amelia have formed a pretty good friendship.
Is it possible that there could be another regular or two introduced in the coming weeks? We would not be entirely shocked, since in addition to losing Sandra Oh, both Gaius Charles and Tessa Ferrer are also out of the picture. The series may opt to not promote anyone else so that they can save a little bit of money (which is important given that you are so far into the run), or they may instead decide to have most of their new characters show up as recurring guest stars. We imagine that the series probably does not have that much more left in the tank beyond just another season or two, and there is really not that much of a need to start bringing in people and making us care about them in a tiny window of time.
