‘Big Brother 16’ houseguest spotlight: Donny Thompson looks to clean up
“Big Brother 16” always likes to have a “one of these is not like the others” contestant in their fold, and this year that contestant appears (at least on the surface) to be Donny Thompson. He’s got a huge beard that he has apparently grown for eight months, is a huge fan of the show (one of the few with that distinction this season), and seems like a nice guy. We’re probably already getting more attached to him than we probably should.
The good news? At least Donny can be popular however long he lasts, and he certainly looks better than some of the other houseguests do right now.

Age – 42
Occupation – Groundskeeper
Location – Albemarle, North Carolina
Strengths – He has a nice handle on what his strategy is going to be, and that is lay low, listen, and try to befriend everyone in the early portion of the game. This is what Jon Pardy did recently in the early part of “Big Brother Canada,” and what Jordan Lloyd was excellent at in season 11. He’s not going to be a big threat to anyone early, and he may be able to leverage his knowledge about the show into a position deeper in the game.
Weaknesses – Unfortunately, we see Donny having a few problems when it comes to him being able to fit in. Typically if you have one thing about you that is different in the game, you can be okay. Unfortunately for him, he looks like a “Duck Dynasty” character and he is also the oldest contestant this season. He’s going to have a hard time connecting with the younger people, especially as a blue-collar guy who has to genuinely work hard in life.
Past houseguest comparison – There really aren’t that many people that come to mind here, though maybe if you combined Jordan and Adam Poch you’d have something that was close to him. He’s not altogether like either of them, but he has elements that when combined, come close.
Prediction – We really want Donny to do well, but we won’t be shocked to see him be one of the first three houseguests off this season. We see some of the younger women creeped out by the beard, and the guys won’t give him much of the time of day. Hopefully we’re wrong, but we cannot see more than one or two people on this cast really embracing him.
