‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6: Michael Trevino, Kat Graham, and honors

The latest -The summer is typically busy for the cast of “The Vampire Diaries,” even though the show is not currently filming. What is going on instead? Think along the lines of Michael Trevino, Kat Graham, and the rest of the cast being honored with the Cast of Heroes Award at the Children Mending Hearts 6th Annual Fundraiser Empathy Rocks: A Spring Into Summer Bash.

Seeing this group in particular be honored with a trophy is hardly much of a surprise, given their own commitments to various charities and trying to make the world a better place. All of them have been extremely involved in organizations, and Ian Somerhalder even has his own foundation that he uses to help environmental causes.

Trevino and Graham were both on hand, and he explained to Zap2It that the cast being together actually helped each one of them to be further encouraged to do great things:

“It’s kind of crazy, because we all do it just to do it, not for any other reason. The eight of us [on ‘TVD’] are now like a little army, each of us representing what we want to follow as far as our charities go, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Everyone kind of had their own charity and we all started supporting each other and tweeting about each others’ charities and it just grew and grew. It’s really cool and it’s nice that Children Mending Hearts is recognizing that.”

Filming for the series will resume in Atlanta next month, with it starting right around the time of Comic-Con as it always does. It is going to be a busy season ahead for Trevino’s Tyler Lockwood, and you can read more about that over at this link.
