‘Mistresses’ season 2, episode 2 review: Will Toni break up Savi and Dom?

MistressesFor a show called “Mistresses” we are not impressed with the lack of actual mistresses this season. We are hoping that things will pick up as the season goes on starting with this week’s episode.

Savi: She is going back to work and Dom is trying to make her feel less insecure about Toni, but after being in the office with her, Savi feels even more uncomfortable. Also it’s pretty obvious that Toni is threatened by Savi and starts using her sexuality to take clients from her. After annoying Savi endlessly in the office, Savi suggests that they should time share the office and Toni agrees, revealing that she is going to use her spare time to try and sleep with Dom. When Savi tells Dom about Toni’s intentions he thinks it’s hilarious because he’s loves Savi. It quickly turns into a fight when she brings up the fact that they got together during an affair and she doesn’t trust Toni as part of the equation. Dom says that he doesn’t think about how they started because she’s the one for him and they find a way to work it out. Even though they were going to keep the relationship a secret at work, Toni sees them kissing in the office – we expect bad things to come from this and hopefully it’ll spice up the show a bit.

April: After sleeping with Daniel, he calls to tell her that she left his earring at his house and when she shows up to get it sparks fly once again. She spends 48 hours in bed with him and then says he’s leaving town for a week. She expects it to be the end of their time together, but he wants to see her again. Daniel isn’t really working for us, he’s just not that interesting and we miss her relationship with Richard. If you want us to buy into Daniel, you have to give us something more then just abs.

Joss: Harry books them a gig last minute with a woman that has high demands. He is making all the decisions about the party planning without including Joss and it’s rubbing her the wrong way. Even though it was a tight time line the client ended up being thrilled with both Harry and Joss, unfortunately it was not enough to make Joss want to ever work with Harry again. He apologized for being controlling and they work out a deal that allows them to work together. We hope that they are not working up to a Harry/Joss relationship this season… so far so good.

Karen: Elizabeth is up for release and Karen is shaken by the news giving her flash backs from the shooting. Karen has the opportunity to give a statement to keep her locked up, but she is still scared of her. After much thought Karen decides to meet with the review board about Elizabeth’s release and ends up sitting down with Elizabeth. She apologizes to Karen and is remorseful for killing Sam giving Karen the peace she needs. She decides not to talk to the board after all and Elizabeth’s plea to get released is rejected anyway.

We are still waiting for season 2 of “Mistresses” to pick up steam. It’s just not as delicious as last season. Hopefully they will find more for the characters to do, especially April and Joss. Episode grade: C
