’24: Live Another Day’ episode 7 review: President Heller’s big play
“24: Live Another Day” has found itself on quite the crazy journey this season, but it has also certainly been one in tradition with the franchise in that the entire weight of the world has been on Jack Bauer’s shoulders much of the time.
Tonight, the mission was both very simple, but also very complicated: Save Margot’s daughter. Michelle Fairley’s character was evil, but did anyone thing that she would go as far as to try to blow up her own daughter? We got an answer to that during this episode, since Jack and Kate had to work together for most of the hour to bring her to safety.
It is interesting in a way given that there really was not that much that actually happened in this episode, save for of course this one major story thread. This just took us on a crazy ride that included a clever car trick, and convincing Simone through all of this that Margot was not the mommy dearest that she though. (Okay, she probably didn’t think this, but she most likely did not believe that she was ever in this sort of danger.)
The final few minutes were what started to shape the story beyond just this simple chase, as President Heller started to prepare himself for the most important chat of his Presidency with Al-Harazi. He contacted her directly with an interesting proposition to turn himself in, but only to ensure the safety of others. Is he really serious, and will this plan work? That is where we are going into the next episode. We didn’t get an official answer one way or another, and that is where we are left off.
Either way, this was a pretty great episode of the series as a whole, especially since it gave you the feel that everyone has a part to play and is really playing it. Now, let’s just hope that there isn’t a letdown to follow this up. Grade: B+.
