NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Is Shakira done after season 6?
After two seasons on “The Voice,” it looks like Shakira may be prepared to shake her famous hips out of the competition for good.
Speaking in the video below (via Synergistic Productions) after the episode of the show on Monday night, the singer made it clear that she doesn’t have any intentions of coming back to the show for another season. She said that she always planned on this being a “temporary” gig for her, and she wanted to go back and do more of what she loves: Performing all over the world. She has done two seasons, and the frustrating thing for her has to be that nobody from her team made it all the way to the finale either time. However, all of the guys this season in Usher, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton have a finalist.
In the end, Shakira is certainly not someone who really needs the show to keep her star power. She is one of the wealthiest coaches to appear on the show, and is actually a much bigger star in Latin America than anywhere in the United States. She’s also the most-followed coach on social media, and in between all of this, her performances, and her recent flurry of endorsements, you have to know that she will be just fine.
The other reason right now that this move makes so much sense for Shakira is thanks tot he fact that we heard recently that Christina Aguilera would return for season 8, which meant that she really didn’t have a spot on the roster anytime soon. No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani has already been plugged in to replace Christina on season 7, when she is gone for maternity leave.

I hear Adam Levine is also leaving after Season 7 so I guess the only loyal Voice left is Blake Shelton.

I certainly preferred her to Christina Aguilera. I’m pretty sure they got Gwen Stefani for next season because the first leg of her tour is starting in the fall, otherwise she might have been back for at least one more season.
