‘Glee’ season 5 finale review: Did Kurt and Blaine, Sam and Mercedes stay together?
After a tough and at times surprising season stuffed full of change, “Glee” came to a close on Tuesday night with many questions … included whether or not Rachel Berry was going to get a TV show based on her own life made.
For Rachel, she quickly realized in here that the problem that she was facing was that the show that was being made for her was not exactly anything about her … at all. It took some convincing, but she did eventually find a way to change that.
As for some other updates, Blaine managed to find a way in order to rope Kurt into his showcase despite whatever the wishes of June may have been. In addition to that, Sam got his dream job as a model, but cheated on Mercedes in the process and then chose to left New York City. He wanted to move back home, and get away from some of the craziness of the city.
The biggest surprise was what the end of the episode really brought us: A series of reminders regarding how the final season is going to go. All of the characters are now scattered. Sam is back in Ohio, Rachel went to Los Angeles in order to shoot a TV pilot, Mercedes (who split from Sam because they just want different things) is touring, and Artie seems to actually be staying in school. As for Kurt and Blaine, who knows what will happen to him?
This was all very fun, but in the end we almost barfed with just how much sugary sweetness was in here, and how conveniently every character in the world managed to get almost everything that they wanted. We understand that they’ve been through a lot already, but how easy things came to these characters tonight was more than a little shocking. Therefore, this finale was flawed in addition to being fun. Grade: B-.
