Fox 2014-15 Fall schedule: ‘Bones,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ move; ‘Gotham’ to air Mondays

When looking at the upcoming fall schedule for Fox, the name of the game is “hm.” They are numerous decisions in here that are extremely risky, and maybe some of this comes out of the fact that they don’t have a singing competition taking up three hours of programming. With that being said, they do have a very experimental reality show about a group of people starting up a new society on two separate nights.

We’ll have a little more analysis once we get to sharing the full schedule below. All times listed here are Eastern.

Monday

8:00-9:00 – “Gotham” (new series)

9:00-10:00 – “Sleepy Hollow”

Tuesday

8:00-9:00 – “Utopia” (new reality show)

9:00-9:30 – “New Girl”

9:30-10:00 – “The Mindy Project”

Wednesday

8:00-9:00 – “Hell’s Kitchen”

9:00-10:00 – “Red Band Society”

Thursday

8:00-9:00 – “Bones”

9:00-10:00 – “Gracepoint” (new series)

Friday

8:00-9:00 – “MasterChef Junior”

9:00-10:00 – “Utopia”

Sunday

7:30 – “Bob’s Burgers”

8:00 – “The Simpsons”

8:30 – “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”

9:00 – “Family Guy”

9:30 – “Mulaney”

There are a number of bizarre moves that are made throughout this schedule. For example, putting live-action comedies on Sunday is a risk at this point, but obviously Fox feels confident enough in these two shows that they can maintain an audience in between ratings monsters. Also, they should be helped by the NFL lead-ins. Moving “Bones” to Thursday is a decent move, and Monday feels like a good spot for “Gotham” provided” that it is not up against any similar competition at all.

The real move that baffles us right now? Airing “Utopia” on a Friday at 9:00. Unless this is a repeat or a twist presentation of a Tuesday show, do you really think that Tuesday viewers are going to be around Fridays at 9:00? That seems like way too much to ask of people to both watch twice a week and on a night when they could be out partying.
