‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: First look at ‘Sherlock’s’ Mark Gatiss
Apparently, the Lannisters do not always pay their debts … and this is where Tycho Nestoris and the Iron Bank come into play on “Game of Thrones” Sunday night. This is something that has been hinted at as an important development in past episodes, as this organization is not one that you really want to mess with. They have no real stake in anything in Westeros, and will instead simply elect to fund the enemies of whoever fails the pay them back.
In the first photo below (via Zap2It), you can see Tycho as played by someone very familiar to TV fans: Mark Gatiss. Not only does he play Mycroft on the BBC’s “Sherlock,” but he is also one of the creative forces behind the show alongside Steven Moffat. This is a very different sort of gig for him in that it is meant to be more of a smaller role that is strictly an acting gig.
Still, we are very happy to see Gatiss on the show. He’s a great actor, and should bring some life to a character that could be very boring otherwise … especially since he’s involved in the Stannis Baratheon storyline that most people prefer to pretend doesn’t exist most of the time. The significance here is not lost, though, given that this may be the key to Stannis actually putting together again a worthy army that can go back to King’s Landing yet again and try to win the Iron Throne for him.
We’ll find out soon just how effective Gatiss really is, especially given that there are only so many episodes left this season. (Yes, it is very painful that we are already at the halfway point of all this.)
