‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Ryan Murphy on buildup before ‘explosion’ in finale
Now, they plan on doing the same thing in between seasons 5 and 6. You may have heard already that the show plans to transition away from the Big Apple for its final year to a certain degree, and while the tease below (via E! News) from Ryan Murphy doesn’t offer many specifics, it does make it clear that it will be a dramatic event that helps to set this change in motion rather than just a series of slow-moving shockers:
“Things are sort of building to a head in episode twenty, a sort of big, natural… I would say explosion is too harsh of a word, but something big happens and then the final season is the aftermath of that.”
Our personal hope for the final season is that the show finds a way to really give you a sense of how the glee club has changed the lives of these people years down the road, and almost operates in a way similar to “Private Practice.” While you will occasionally have group scenes and musical numbers, go small and show us singular character stories. Let us really see what Rachel’s life is like following “Funny Girl,” or whether or not Kurt and Blaine can go the distance without splicing their scenes with some other people. “Glee” has always tried its best to go big with some of its episodes that it would be interesting to see the opposite attempted for a time.
