‘Britain’s Got Talent’: Simon Cowell defends dancers Paddy & Nico after backlash

More news -This is probably going to sound very familiar to anyone and everyone familiar to reality television and the British tabloids: Whenever there is something out there that is not entirely appreciated, people complain, and they are doing so now about “Britain’s Got Talent” favorites Paddy & Nico.

The dance act, which features a 79-year old woman and her younger partner, were the first act in show history to receive a golden buzzer, as Amanda Holden automatically put the two through to the live rounds. However, after the fact it was learned online that the two have a generous amount of TV talent experience, having won a Spanish version of this show in the past. By one token, this could be labeled an unfair advantage since they already know how to deal with the stress and the relentless expectations.

However, the man behind the series has a little bit of a different feeling about all this. Writing in a post on his Twitter account, Simon Cowell had the following to say about the gossip from his vantage point:

Don’t knock paddy for performing on a Spanish talent show. She is British and wants the chance to perform in front of our royal family … She is 80 years old. Let her have that chance. You the viewers will decide.”

While we love undiscovered talent as much as the next person, there isn’t that much of it out there. With that in mind, we actually think that Simon is right. If you don’t like them in the semifinals, then just send them home. The solution is really as easy as that.
