‘Survivor: Cagayan’ rankings: Kass creates chaos in this week’s list

Kass -Sometimes, there’s nowhere to go but up when it comes to our “Survivor” rankings. Last week, we admittedly put Sarah Lacina at the top of the list, thinking that there was no way that she’d fall into the swing vote trap and get herself in trouble. Instead, we felt like she almost had a four or five-week pass just by joining an alliance.

Now that she’s gone and Kass has seemingly flipped, things could be a little more predictable on Wednesday night’s new episode. Unless a new immunity idol gets involved or someone else flips, we could have a few tribals in a row that are a traditional Pagonging. We hope that doesn’t happen since it makes for boring TV, though for a few players it’s definitely the right move.

As always with this list, we are ranking based on a few things: Strategy, edit, and overall effectiveness (i.e. in challenges, or just being a good person to have around).

10. Spencer Bledsoe (last week: 7) – A very smart guy who knows a ton about the game, and that makes him the biggest threat in the minority alliance. Tasha no longer has her top ally, Jeremiah is a walking zombie, and nobody’s worried about Morgan. Spencer’s competent in challenges, and should be targeted right away.

9, Tasha Fox (8) – Tasha also has a mind for big moves, and while we understand the “take out the physical threat” strategy, the move at final ten if you are someone like LJ or Tony should be to eliminate people who could possibly make a big move.

8. Kass McQuillen (3) – We’ve created a “Survivor” phrase known as “pulling a John Fincher,” and this is where you flip to a new group, and they promptly get rid of you since they don’t really need you anymore. We could see that happening with Kass, since nobody really has any reason to trust her at all.

7. Tony Vlachos (11) – If Tony wins this season, we’ll be willing to coin him one of the best players in the show’s history just because there’s a huge degree of difficulty to what he’s doing in playing so hard. That is why we are never going to be that confident about his odds to stay in the game, even if he’s our favorite person on the entire season.

6. Woo Hwang (10) – There is another word for what could happen to Woo this season: “Getting Ozzy’d.” This is the fear that you are going to win every single immunity challenge, and you are therefore eliminated the first chance that your tribe has. We understand that there’s a strategic component to the game, but if he wins every challenge and makes it to the end without angering anyone, he may have a shot at winning. Seriously.

5. Morgan McLeod (4) – The only reason Morgan may be in trouble is that previews show her and Kass fighting with each other. There’s no other reason. The best thing that Morgan can do is absolutely nothing and hope that people forget she’s even there.

4. Jeremiah Wood (9) – We suppose that Jeremiah could win immunity challenges, but Jeremiah is the Eddie Fox of this season. He’s not finding idols, or making moves, or being an awful person around camp. You can string him along or take him to the end, since there’s no way that anyone will give him a million bucks. This is why we’ll give him a chance to last.

3. Jefra Bland (5) – Now that she survived the merge vote thanks to Kass, Jefra’s got a ticket to last a while. There’s no way that she wins, and her outing Kass further as the flipper was yet another sign that she has no strategic game to think of. She’s just along for the ride right now.

2. LJ McKanas (6) – If LJ makes it to the end, there’s a great chance for him to argue for the title of Sole Survivor. He’s made it through some tough parts of the game, and also just has this natural way about him that gravitates most people (except for Morgan) to him. But has he really made big moves, or allowed others to do them for him?

1. Trish Hegarty (2) – Think about how underrated Trish’s game has been for a second. She made no enemies with her move at the start of the game, was the real catalyst in getting Cliff Robinson voted out, fought with Lindsey to the point that she quit, and convinced Kass to flip. While you can argue that not all of these were strategic moves, some of them are. We haven’t given Trish enough credit, and she could be underestimated and brought to the end, only for the other players to realize that she is building a nice resume for herself.
