‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7: Star Wars Day episode coming up
If there was ever a show that would be game to celebrate Star Wars Day in the best way possible, it would be “The Big Bang Theory.” There have been references to “Star Wars” aplenty since the start of the series, and given the fact that the show airs at least near May 4 (“May the Fourth be with you!”), the fit here was even more perfect to do an installment that is really all about how Sheldon Cooper and company choose to celebrate.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the May 1 episode of the show entitled “The Proton Transmogrification” is going to be the one that really features the franchise in a variety of different ways.
1. Bob Newhart will appear for the second time this season in the role of Sheldon’s childhood hero Professor Proton, as he will appear to Sheldon as his Jedi Master. Funny, and also very appropriate.
2. In a way, Bob will actually be playing one of the iconic characters from the mythology … and that is all that we can say for now.
3. The crew from Industrial Light + Magic helped the show in order to recreate the world of Dagobah, and they have also provided many props.
In speaking about this experience overall, “The Big Bang Theory” executive producer Steve Molaro had the following to say to the publication:
“They’re excited about everything we’re doing and they’re going to help us with the special effects. Bob is going to be swinging a light saber around and they sent us a real one to use. They’re going to help make it look and sound right. It’s an amazing crossover for us.”
He also said that they called Bob when they had the idea for combining “Star Wars” and his next appearance on the show, and he was interested in the idea after he received a little bit more of a rundown on the entire “Star Wars” mythology.
