‘The Good Wife’ season 5, episode 16 reaction: Alicia tries to move on from Will

The latest -Following last week’s episode of “The Good Wife,” you knew that there were going to be shockers that unfolded throughout Sunday night’s “The Last Call.” This was an emotional tale all about trying to move on, and how difficult that is going to be for every different character.

The most important thing here is that rather than trying to tie together the Will story neatly throughout this episode, CBS smartly recognized instead that this is going to be something that takes a while to get over. The healing process started in this hour, but almost everyone deals with grief in an entirely different way.

For Alicia, her attempts to deal with what happened in some ways did majorly tip her hand as to who was the person she truly cared about in between Will and Peter. She was there for her husband as he was in turn there for her, but she really didn’t want to be. She mostly just wanted to continue to uphold the same duties that she has since the very beginning of the series.

As for the other characters, we saw everything from surprising emotion (see Diane) to a hunger for the truth and then a passion for vengeance (see Kalinda). Everyone handled the grief in their own way, and we give the writers a ton of credit for handling this in as realistic a manner as possible. This will be handled for several weeks as Alicia has to not only figure out what is best for her life, but also what is best for the firm.
