‘Girls’ season 4: Why all possibilities are open for Lena Dunham, cast
Could season 4 of “Girls” really take place with Hannah Horvath away from the other girls? After the season finale that aired on HBO Sunday night, this is at least something that will have to be considered.
Could the show with Hannah in Iowa work? In the long-term, that is probably unlikely; it is one of the pitfalls of series television that you have characters who people fall in love with, but with live viewership and buzz declining, taking away such a big chunk of the show would be a rough thing to pull off.
But, we can see it working for a few episodes, just as we saw Jessa being away as something different and interesting for the character. The truth is, a show like this has almost infinite possibilities given its lack of restraints. It’s easy for it to go in almost a million different directions.
Do we want to see Shoshanna and Ray get back together? Sure, but we feel like it does have to be earned. The same goes for seeing Jessa get healthier, and having some sort of normal life again. One thing that we want to see that is entirely different at this point is Marnie getting a new love interest, and one that you know for sure is not going to cheat on her with someone else in a dressing room.
What do you think we should see on “Girls” next season, and are you okay with a handful of episodes that separate Hannah from the rest of the group? This show has some terrible, insufferably selfish characters. Couldn’t finish watch halfway through season 2. Everyone is so unlikable.

Agreed. I think the draw of the show isn’t meant to be likable characters. It’s about realism. It’s a bunch of entitled white kids who must have trust funds (because living in NYC without really having job? yeah right). Of course they would be insufferably selfish. But in the end, people love awful white people in NYC. I mean, look at how popular Sex in the City was.
