‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’: Lindsay Lohan, Robert de Niro, Lady Gaga surprise
Monday night was clearly a big one for NBC, since it marked the start of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The network has put a ton of money into this, and they have to be hoping that they don’t have another Conan O’Brien situation on their hands here where they have to go back to another host before they really want to. Jay Leno’s not going to be available again for them to do this if this fails.
Well, we have to admit that during the opening monologue, we were very nervous that the show was not going to deliver after Fallon’s opening monologue was mostly flat, and even contained a random series of instructions about how to watch a TV show (in case you didn’t know already).
But then, NBC really pulled out a big shocker courtesy of the sort of people that they managed to convince to stop by for a cameo appearance as they all stopped by to “repay” Fallon. This group included Robert de Niro, Tina Fey, Seth Rogen, Joe Namath, Mariah Carey, Joan Rivers, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mike Tyson, Tracy Morgan, Lady Gaga, and so many more. De Niro to us is the biggest surprise, given that he rarely does late-night talk shows. We’re also somewhat surprised that all of these people happened to even be available for the gig.
Will Smith was also present for Fallon’s first show, and he produced what was certainly an internet-worthy moment in a series of hip-hop dances. We know that this is what NBC is hoping to get from the show: A great internet presence!
