‘True Blood’ season 7 notes: Production continues; new projects for past stars

What's up ahead? -Usually at this time of year, you traditionally hear a few little plot scoops here and there about an upcoming “True Blood” season. However, this time around the feeling is a little bit different.

What is going on there? The very easy explanation to give for it is that this time around, the powers-that-be feel an extra reason to be a little bit protective of their property. This is the show’s final season, and most of the cast is therefore staying mum so that there isn’t anything that comes out for people to hear about. The last thing that we did hear is that Luke Grimes has been recast after originally being a part of the sixth season.

So since things are so quiet, let’s turn instead to a couple of other stories that may interest you, given that they revolve around people and personalities familiar to the show.

Kevin Alejandro – You know him for playing Lafayette’s former boyfriend Jesus (RIP), and now the actor has signed on, per Deadline, to appear in the ABC pilot “Clementine.” The project revolves around a 28-year old psychic of the same name who has a number of troubles, and Kevin will play the part of her bad boy ex-boyfriend, who is also the father of her child. Alejandro has also appeared on “Southland” and is in the middle of an excellent arc on “Arrow,” where he plays the ruthless man known as Brother Blood.

Alexander Woo – Woo was a major behind-the-scenes player on “True Blood” for six years, and now Variety reports that he will executive-produce an ambitious new project for AMC entitled “Birmingham,” which revolves around a murder that took place in the Alabama city, and is uprooted 50 years in the future in a way that could cause race relations to completely crumble. This is an interesting idea, and at least worth watching in the next few weeks.
